Tour de Cure Pledge me!
Blue Hills Map

The trails were in good shape and dry. It was a very windy day, but that didn't cause much of a effect except when climbing the summit road to the Blue Hill Observatory.

At about mile 18 or so, my knee started acting up again, which is causing me great concern. It started bugging me during the CRW ride a couple of weeks ago, but I wrote it off as a combination of cold and rain. While it was a bit chilly during this ride, it was very dry. I'm hoping this is not going to be a problem as it would be a Very Bad Thing to start my 500 mile ride and only be able to do the first 20 and have to quit.

Blue Hills

The Blue Hills trails are quite a bit tougher in many places than the Middlesex Fells MTB loop. This one, for example, follows a rain gully.

Blue Hills

But like the rest of New England, it's full of hard, sharp rocks.

Blue Hills

At the top of the very steep Summit Road is the Blue Hill Observatory, the oldest and longest operating weather observatory in the nation.

Blue Hill

The Blue Hill Observatory You can see how windy it is. The top winds ever recorded here were 121 MPH with gusts to 186 during a hurricane in 1938.

Great Blue Hill

The is from the top of Great Blue Hill, but I'm not sure of the direction. I think it's looking west since I think that white spot is a mall.

Blue Hills

Back to the trails. Some of the hillsides here are quite steep. But you wouldn't go far before you smacked a tree.

Chickatawbut overlook

The Chickatawbut Overlook; Boston from the south.

Subway

An accidental picture on the subway on the way home. This is my good knee.
